As a Product Safety and Compliance Manager at Vermeer you will work in an energetic environment. You are responsible for the technical aspects of product safety and compliance of Vermeer products, including developing, maintaining, and improving the product risk assessment and mitigation process. In this roll you collaborate with product safety, compliance, and engineering team members and provide guidance to team members at Vermeer EMEA to ensure the product meets reasonable safety engineering practices and complies with relevant regulations and standards.

What are you going to do:

  • You lead and develop assigned team members in performance of their duties. You establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s business strategies and objectives and ensure department is properly serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations.
  • You teach others about the technical aspect to product safety and compliance assessment and positively influence their understanding of the value.
  • You evaluate and review machine designs (whole machine or components/features) from the standpoint of product safety and compliance, including identifying hazards, collaborating to specify design criteria, and preparing documentation.
  • You participate in industry technical organizations as required, including serving as committee chair when appropriate.
  • You develop, maintain, and improve the product risk assessment and mitigation process and collaborate with the other Vermeer product safety and compliance teams to identify industry standards as they relate to Vermeer products
  • You oversee the establishment and maintenance of Product Safety Engineering Considerations (SECs) and Product Compliance Engineering Considerations (CECs) for all Vermeer products produced in the EMEA region.
  • You investigate accidents and claims and determine whether subsequent remedial measures should be implemented.
  • You evaluate, respond to, and interact with regulators internationally concerning product safety and product compliance.

Wat do you need:

  • 10 years of experience related to product safety engineering; or equivalent training and experience with strong emphasis on product safety engineering; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of experience in effectively managing people, processes, and development projects.
  • Willing to travel 20% of your time on a yearly base.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers and maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness.
  • Ability to remain emotionally strong and view machines that have been involved in various incidents and document the scene.
  • Ability to produce accurate, professional, and error-free documents in a timely manner and work with confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to oversee the delivery of consistency and adherence to standard work in the technical manuals and communication with the proper format and content.
  • Ability to deliver parts manuals and supplier materials according to schedule.
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers; ability to develop interpersonal relationships with co-workers, staff, dealers and the community to meet or exceed expectations.
